WHAT'S GOING ON
You Didn’t Change —
Your Hormones Did
If you’re a woman, there comes a day — usually in your 40s — when it feels like you woke up in a different body.
You didn’t do anything wrong. You’ve probably been doing everything right — working hard, taking care of others, keeping it all together.
And yet: night waking, brain fog, belly fat.
It’s not you. It’s menopause.
Some Things Just Get Harder. (Sorry.)
The hormonal transition of perimenopause and menopause is one of the most profound shifts in a woman’s life. As estrogen declines, every system in the body is affected.
- Metabolism slows down. Muscle mass drops, making it easier to gain weight (especially around the middle) and harder to lose it. Insulin sensitivity rises, meaning blood sugar spikes, energy dips, and stronger cravings.
- Sleep becomes a luxury. Night waking, early rising, and temperature swings impinge on your rest.
- Mood and focus fluctuate. Estrogen helps regulate serotonin and dopamine — so when estrogen dips, brain fog, irritability, and anxiety can all make moves.
- Collagen and moisture decline. Skin, hair, joints, and even vaginal tissue feel drier, tighter, and more sensitive.
- Heart and bone health need extra love. Lower estrogen can raise cholesterol and accelerate bone density loss over time.
Why Nutrition Matters Now –
More Than Ever
These changes are biology, but you do have some say. The right nutrition can support your body to feel strong, stable, and so much more like yourself.
- Prioritize Protein. To maintain muscle mass, metabolism, blood sugar balance, and cognitive function.
- Focus on Fiber. Fiber supports gut health, improved estrogen metabolism, and cholesterol balance – all of which become more vulnerable during peri / menopause.
- Get Savvy with Super Nutrients – a.k.a. Polyphenols and Adaptogens. The beneficial bacteria in our gut are fed by compounds – often the color – in plants. Eating a variety of plants (at least 30 different plants per week) is the best way to ensure a healthy population of gut bacteria.
As we age, our bodies need fewer calories, so we need to make sure that the food we do consume is nutrient dense. Eating habits we may have been able to 'get away with' before just don't serve us at this stage!
OUR CLINICAL DIRECTOR
Caitlin Hosmer, MS, RD/LDN
Caitlin is a clinical nutrition powerhouse with degrees from Cornell and Tufts. She has more than 30 years of experience in integrated health environments at Beth Israel and Brigham and Women’s Hospital, bringing nutrition and behavior change to adults with serious medical issues. Her areas of focus are gut health, metabolic health, and inflammation balance.
Caitlin comes by her healthy habits from birth, having grown up with a Greek mother, eating a plant-forward, mediterranean diet her whole life. These practices served her well into midlife, and her own journey through perimenopause was smooth — largely because she knew how to support herself through food. Now, she’s bringing that knowledge and support to the rest of us.
OUR CLINICAL PHILOSOPHY
Food Is Profound Medicine
Our philosophy is simple: support your body’s natural systems with real food.
The Menomix blend is carefully formulated to nourish three core pillars of midlife health:
1. Metabolic Health
Steady energy and balanced metabolism are central to hormone health. Our blend includes whole-food fiber and nutrients that help stabilize blood sugar, maintain lean muscle, and sustain vitality throughout the day.
2. Inflammation Balance
As estrogen drops, inflammation can rise — contributing to fatigue, joint stiffness, and long-term disease risk. We include plant compounds and polyphenols known for their natural anti-inflammatory properties, helping your body stay in balance.
3. Microbiome Support
Gut health influences everything — mood, immunity, and metabolism. Declining estrogen can disrupt the gut’s delicate ecosystem. Our ingredients are rich in fiber and prebiotic compounds that feed beneficial bacteria and promote a resilient microbiome.
Whole Foods, Meaningful Quantities
Our formulation is based on well-established nutrition science and human physiology.
Each ingredient is chosen for its traditional use and modern evidence in supporting women’s metabolic, inflammatory, and gut health. We've included bio-significant amounts of each one (not just a smidge so we can put it on the label).
Because Menomix contains only whole foods, without added vitamins, minerals, or medicinal compounds, it integrates easily with other healthcare plans.
(As always, check ingredient compatibility with any medications you take.)
Daily Habits Equal Longterm Health
This is nutrition that tastes and feels good — not another pill to swallow.
Our goal is to turn nutrition science into a simple, satisfying and joyful ritual.
By starting the day with a delicious and nutrient-packed smoothie, a small act of self-care can truly change health over time.
How good will it feel to win the day, at breakfast?
WHY WE MADE THIS
These things we know to be true…
The vitamin aisle is confusing on purpose.
So is figuring out which nutrients women need as our bodies change. We’ve combined the most powerful fundamentals, in significant quantities, into one simple mix.
You have enough to remember.
Running out of protein powder (and psyllium, and beet root powder, and maca, and ginger, and...) shouldn’t take up mental space. We send your next container right on time — because your brain has better things to think about.
Food should taste like food.
Our mix is flavored naturally with real cinnamon, vanilla, cardamum, and ginger. It is mildly sweet, and avoids stevia and other artificial tasting sweeteners. We want to eat food that tastes like baking, not faking.
And most of all, this should feel good.
Our purpose is to make your daily nutrition easy, supportive, and joyful. Have an idea or comment? Drop us a line — we’d love to hear from you.
WHY WE MADE THIS - THE BIG PICTURE
It’s not boo-hoo, it’s boo-yah!
There’s a lot of fear and resignation out there about women aging. Don’t believe it! This is the time when women are coming into our own. We've notched the life experience to know who we are, and what is right for ourselves, our people, and the world. Midlife is not a fade-out. It's a time of clarity, confidence, and becoming more fully ourselves.
At MenoPantry we believe that food is medicine, women in community are medicine, and this chapter of life deserves better tools.
Watch this space for reflection and celebration of the power of the female in mid-life.
Me•no (verb) To abide.
Meno comes from Greek, and has become a prefix meaning monthly. As women, we have always been connected to the monthly cycles of the moon and the natural world.
Meno has another meaning we like: to remain, abide. To continue to be present. To be held, kept, continually.
Our cycle has kept us in time with the natural world. As we let go of menstruation, we abide, still, with ourselves, remaining present and kept.
Caring for our bodies and being in community with other women. Yes.
Hello! We’re Kate & Caitlin.
Kate: I was a pretty average menopausal woman. I suffered though years of peri without know what it was. Doctors never mentioned it through out my 40s - Despite seeing both an OB and a GP every year.
I woke up up one night in a body that didn’t feel like my own, experiencing weight gain, brain fog, and hot flashes, and knew I had to do something.
I was typical in another way too - after a lifetime of paying attention to diet and exercize, I thought I knew how to eat. So was I lucky when I got new doctor and she suggested seeing a nutritionist. "That's weird," I thought. But then, everything changed.
Caitlin: I grew up in a family that was very focused on health, and my mother is Greek, so I've been eating a plant-forward, mediterranean diet for my whole life.
All of my habits served me well into menopause, and eating to taking care of my gut, my metabolic health, and my inflammation response has helped me have a mild experience.
We made this mix for ourselves, our friends, and for you! We hope this smoothie brings you energy, joy, and vitality every day. Welcome!
